Welcome
The ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems 2026 (ACM SIGSPATIAL 2026), the thirty-fourth edition, will be held in Riverside, CA, USA. The conference began as a series of symposia and workshops starting in 1993 with the aim of bringing together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners in relation to novel systems based on geospatial data and knowledge, and fostering interdisciplinary discussions and research in all aspects of geographic information systems. The conference provides a forum for original research contributions covering all conceptual, design, and implementation aspects of geospatial data ranging from applications, user interfaces, and visualization to data storage and query processing and indexing. The conference is the premier annual event of the ACM Special Interest Group on Spatial Information (ACM SIGSPATIAL). Researchers, students, and practitioners are invited to submit their contributions to ACM SIGSPATIAL 2026.

Open Access at ACM
Starting in 2026, ACM has transitioned to a fully Open Access publishing model. Open Access makes scholarly articles freely available to anyone, anywhere, without subscription barriers, increasing the visibility and impact of research. Under this model, all ACM publications are accessible online at no cost to readers. For more details, please visit the ACM Open Access page.
Who Pays for Open Access Publishing
Under ACM's Open Access model, the cost of publication is typically covered through Article Processing Charges (APCs), which are the responsibility of the corresponding author. However, many institutions participate in ACM's Open Access agreements, meaning authors affiliated with those institutions may publish at no direct cost. Check if your institution is covered →
For authors without institutional coverage, APCs depend on ACM/SIG membership status:
- Non-members: $700 (reduced to $350 during 2026)
- ACM/SIG members: $500 (reduced to $250 during 2026)
ACM also provides financial assistance programs, including waivers and discounts, to support the community.
