Student Travel Awards
The ACM SIGSPATIAL 2026 Conference organizers are excited to announce the 2026 travel awards to help potential attendees with travel and conference costs. The funds for the grants come from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Award No. 2624422, conference sponsors, and ACM SIGSPATIAL. The link for the application below will serve as the central entry point for all travel grant applications for our conference.
Selection Criteria
- The applicant for the travel grants must be a student (graduate, undergraduate, or high school) or an early career researcher (0-3 years since graduation). Applicants can be based in any country, but eligibility varies across funding sources.
- NSF Travel Grants (approx. 20 awards, up to $1000 USD): to be eligible, the applicant must be 18 years of age or older, a student (graduate, undergraduate, or high school) enrolled at a US post-secondary institution.
- ACM SIGSPATIAL Travel Grants (limited funding available): The grants are for all applicants. Priority will be given to non-US students or early career researchers and first-time attendees.
- Priority will be given to student authors and early career researchers with accepted full research papers at the main conference at ACM SIGSPATIAL 2026.
- The recipients must register and attend the full conference.
- The funding will be used for travel-related support only.

Service Requirement
Please note that we ask all grant recipients to volunteer for four hours sometime during the conference week. We will make sure to accommodate your constraints and preferences so you don't have to miss any important sessions. Volunteer responsibilities potentially include managing the registration desk, assisting with session logistics, or providing general support throughout the event.
Deadlines
- The deadline for applications is Friday, October 2, 2026 anywhere on earth.
- The award notification is on or before Friday, October 9, 2026 anywhere on earth.
- The deadline for accepting the award is Wednesday, October 14, 2026 anywhere on earth.
